23 hours to go...

There are roughly 23 hours left until i get on a plane with all my cherished, worldly posessions and travel 4289 miles from Screwmarket.

This is where I am going, for your reference. i think i am about 18 miles from the beach, and fairly close (about 40 miles) to an 8129 foot mountain!!! that's like bringing Mount Washington plus 1/3 to Sanford, ME! i ride to sanford twice or three times a year!

this is going to be an f-ing EPIC semester! oh yeah and i'm going to travel around Europe too.

i was thinking about what this blog is all about.
It will not be something where i comment or rant about inane garbage. i do that in real life therefore i don't need to pollute my little spot on the internet with such negative attitudes.

that being said, i will try to use thie blog to motivate myself to write about my daily habits, encounters, bicycle rides, ride data, routes, travels and so on.

it will generally be a document and testament to the glory of my Italian adventure.

in previous posts, i mentioned things that i will and will not miss; here is a continuation of that list:
Miss Not Miss
- fall foliage - work clothes
- The Simpsons - my cell phone
- my bed - my truck and feeding it petrol
- my pillows - classes (even though i am taking them in italy)
- the cocoon that i create when i sleep - there is probably some other stuff
- CLASSIC ROCK!

on a final note, one of my co-workers said goodbye as he left this afternoon.
"hopefully see you all on tuesday," he said as he shuffled out, trying to amusing and doleful.

HAH!! jokes on you, tubby! but i didn't say anything.

every day is closer to the day i leave

So...
5 days until i leave for Ascoli Piceno.
i picked up one of the most important peices of paraphenalia for this trip; Steve's Bike Box.

i really talked myself into taking my bike so if i was unable to bring it along, i think i would have been sorely disapointed. i would have had fun but i was banking on cycling in Italy from day one.

apparently i have always wanted to go to Italy. my mom siad that ever since i was little, maybe ten or so, i always talked about Italy, about Rome and other Italian things. in high school, when it came to the grades that you had to select a foreign language, i bitched and whined about Italian not being offered.
so this trip better not suck, or i better not die in a plane crash. or get murdered by a roommate.

i will miss the following things:
- Friends and family (obviously)
- Turkey sandwiches
- Dorritos
there are probably many things that i will miss, but i slightly hungry right now so food is on my mind

Things i will not miss:
- WORKING for a whole semester!
i suppose that's it for now.
